lessons in anatomy

last week, reese finally noticed that something was a little different when i changed cal's diapers.

"oh mommy, what's that!!?" while giggling her little heart out.

"that's called a penis. it's cal's special private part that makes him a boy."

we continued to have a little discussion about how heavenly father made boys and girls different and how awesome and fabulous all parts of our bodies are.

the next day while changing his diaper, she exclaimed, "hey!! there's cal's piece!! it's sooooo cute!!"

again i went over the proper labels and that was that.

a few days later deek was singing reese to sleep, "take me out to the ball game, take me out to the crowd. buy me some peanuts and cracker..." when he was abruptly interrupted by reese.

"daddy. did you say penis?"

{trying desperately to hold it together} "no reese, i said peanuts. buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks."

"oh." and then stuck her blankie back in her mouth.

the end.

how in the world am i supposed to keep a straight face through this stuff?
