funny little stories
she received a new red radio flyer bike for her birthday.  she LOVES bikes and at playgroup i was always having to kick her off other people's bikes since she didn't have her own. the day after her birthday she was riding her new bike in the kitchen and yelling/singing at the top of her lungs: "this my bike, that my bike, my bike, my bike, this my bike, my bike!!!!" over and over and over again. needless to say, she's happy she now has her very own set of wheels.

the other day she came up to me holding a nickel saying, "oh mommy, guess what, wook at dis!!" i looked closer and she was pointing to the face on the nickel. then she yelled, "it's jesus!!" {except she used his full name, but i feel weird typing that out...}. she thinks every man with longer than your average male haircut is jesus. awesome.

i had put her birthday cake {covered with plastic wrap} on the counter. While in my room I heard a delighted little squeal, "mmmm......sugar!!!"  she came running into my room with a big glob of frosting on her finger, "mommy, sugar!!!" when i went into the kitchen a big swipe of frosting had been taken off of the side of her cake.

we love our little reese so much. why does time have to go so fast? i have to say, the stage she's in right now is adorable - her speech, her dancing, even her independent little persona.  we love it all.

love you reese!!!

the rodeo princess

my man

mwah.

and no, as opposed to popular belief, i didn't just pull that butterfly out of my ear during the morning shower.  the fair had a butterfly room where butterflies were flying all around and you could feed them with q-tips dipped in nectar.  isn't that so cool?

reese wasn't quite a fan for the first little while.  especially when this friendly critter dropped by to say hello.

mommy daughter teaching moment:

the petting zoo

the lumberjack show. yes, just like they show on the outdoor channel.

can't wait for next year. yee haw!

couples retreat and birthday celebration for reese

have i mentioned before that i have the greatest family around? oh, i have? well let me mention it again, because i do.

last weekend we headed down to the beehive state for a quick weekend couples retreat with my siblings and parents. and of course we were having too much fun to take any pictures. so for memory's sake, a list of the weekend's happenings:

-sealing session in the bountiful temple

-movie 17 miracles. wow. this movie left me speechless.  i'll be perfectly honest and say i thought it was going to be just another cheesy church movie, but it was far from it. i couldn't recommend it more.  both deek and i may have had some tears sneak out.

-plates and palates lunch on the drive up the canyon

-boys golfing at mountain dell

-girls shopping at the outlets.  surprisingly, we lasted the entire almost 5 hours, even with two preggos, another sicky, and a newborn.

-dinner at gateway grill in kamas.  our food may have taken a while to get there, but so fun to just sit and chat the night away out on the patio.

-late night at the cabin full of hilarious conversation with siblings and in-laws. {"annie, i think it's time for you to transition to bed..."}

-blissfully sleeping in. {sans kids - wahoo!! thanks mom h!}

-atv rides

-cooler weather and gorgeous and scenery

it really was the greatest weekend.  we topped it off with a quick little family birthday party for reese.  while she doesn't turn 2 for a couple more weeks, the grandma's wanted to give their gifts in person.

some pics we snapped of the evening...

so glad we were able to see so many of our family in our quick trip down south!

my birthday

although it was almost a month ago, i'm finally getting around to posting about my birthday. dog days of summer {and blogging for that matter} are definitely in full swing.

i hope this year's birthday is indicative of the year to come, because seriously, it's been my favorite adult birthday to date.

perfect birthday blissfulness included the following:

breakfast at goldy's, this cute little intimate cafe in downtown, courtesy of my madre.  definitely a place to return to - old building with exposed brick walls, tiny seating area, and fantastic food.  i had stuffed french toast {stuffed with bananas, maple syrup, cinnamon, and pecans}. divine. reese about died over the micky mouse pancake.

my mom treated me to a stop at lowes to pick out some flowers and planters to jazz up my desperately bare front porch.

opening of birthday gifts from the most thoughtful family around. sony bloggie from deek was one of my faves.

thanks to my mom,  deek and i were able to get a way for the greatest birthday date ever - floating the boise river! we had two boating tubes, no oars {lesson learned river, lesson learned...}, one rope to tie us together, and whole lotta excitement for the 3 hour escapade.  there were even a few very minor rapids.  i may have screamed a little. and i only almost died once by nearly being eaten by a tree.  baby boy junior seemed to love the ride. deek and i vowed to a) float the river at least once every year and b) bring the oars next time.

our lovely date continued with a night out on the town.  shopping and wandering on 8th street with my new birthday moolah and dinner at the most fanstatic thai joint - mai thai's.  we had walked up and down the street probably 5 times reading all of the menus each restaurant had to offer and finally decided to try something different.  so glad we went out on a limb. i ordered something called 'evil dragon' or something equally funky and satanic sounding, but my oh my, was it the greatest thing to ever hit my tastebuds. followed it up with some coconut ice cream.

best birthday ever, i tell ya.

right before the river float:

cheers to a new year!

summer bums

why are naked little baby and toddler bums the cutest things ever?

yesterday we ran out of swim diapers and i really didn't want to make a trip to the store.  lazy bum mom. it's been hovering around 100 degrees since saturday, so a cool off was definitely in order.

enter the jenerek nudist colony. {don't worry, only reese participated} add a little backyard pool and a popsicle and we're in summer heaven round these parts.

i'm cringing at the thought of being cooped up all winter. at least this year i'll be able to walk outside without falling in a snow drift every few feet though! {thinking happy thoughts, thinking happy thoughts...}

until then we'll continue to soak in the sunshine and enjoy the full moon ;).

happy summer days to you!

video interview with reese: 1 month shy of being 2

here's a little interview with reese we took recently. {thanks to this year's birthday gift! hurray!}

do you ever think to yourself, "i gave birth to the world's cutest human..."

i do. i'm one of those parents, because i think this to myself almost every stinkin' day. i feel so badly for all those other parents out there, with their second rate children and all ;).

and yes, that's just what this world needs, another parent knowing thinking their child is utter perfection.

those golden curls? that little voice? her irresistible laugh? and oh my heck, her abc's? guys, she totally sucks her padre and me in. we're toast.

p.s. anyone know how to make the video appear larger on the blog? i can't figure it out...
