i hope this year's birthday is indicative of the year to come, because seriously, it's been my favorite adult birthday to date.
perfect birthday blissfulness included the following:
breakfast at goldy's, this cute little intimate cafe in downtown, courtesy of my madre. definitely a place to return to - old building with exposed brick walls, tiny seating area, and fantastic food. i had stuffed french toast {stuffed with bananas, maple syrup, cinnamon, and pecans}. divine. reese about died over the micky mouse pancake.
my mom treated me to a stop at lowes to pick out some flowers and planters to jazz up my desperately bare front porch.
opening of birthday gifts from the most thoughtful family around. sony bloggie from deek was one of my faves.
thanks to my mom, deek and i were able to get a way for the greatest birthday date ever - floating the boise river! we had two boating tubes, no oars {lesson learned river, lesson learned...}, one rope to tie us together, and whole lotta excitement for the 3 hour escapade. there were even a few very minor rapids. i may have screamed a little. and i only almost died once by nearly being eaten by a tree. baby boy junior seemed to love the ride. deek and i vowed to a) float the river at least once every year and b) bring the oars next time.
our lovely date continued with a night out on the town. shopping and wandering on 8th street with my new birthday moolah and dinner at the most fanstatic thai joint - mai thai's. we had walked up and down the street probably 5 times reading all of the menus each restaurant had to offer and finally decided to try something different. so glad we went out on a limb. i ordered something called 'evil dragon' or something equally funky and satanic sounding, but my oh my, was it the greatest thing to ever hit my tastebuds. followed it up with some coconut ice cream.
best birthday ever, i tell ya.
right before the river float:
cheers to a new year!
